Mazatlan Taxi Drivers “Ballet”

I just came across a great quote that expresses what driving/traffic is like in Mazatlan, and I couldn’t help but share!

Driving in Mazatlan is pretty crazy, especially according to gringos that are used to traffic laws that are actually enforced, and who have this crazy idea of “defensive driving.” In Mazatlan, it’s not like that, but they have their own system, and it works!

The following quote comes from a Mazatlan taxi driver (the taxi drivers are the craziest people on the road!):

“Yes, Mazatlan drivers seem to be crazy and dangerous, but they know what they are doing. Maz drivers have their own ballet. The only time there is a problem is when people come into town and mess up the dance.”

There you’ve got it! You can’t be trying to follow traffic laws! It messes up the dance!
